Website Overview

If you've been handed the task of managing your community or company website and don't know the first thing about it, don't worry. We're here to show the way. Read the brief articles in the Basics section first to get you going.

Getting Started

All websites have a "front end" and a "back end." Some websites also have a "portal."

  1. The front end is what a visitor sees. This includes the home page and other pages that you can see without logging in.

  2. The back end is where you work on the website--add pages, change pages, add posts, change pictures, etc. The back end is where you will be working. These Help articles will show you how to do things to the website on the back end.

  3. A portal is a part of a website that's customized to a member. Portals require logging in. Once a member has logged in, he or she can do certain things depending on what kind of portal and website it is. (If it's a website for a residential community, for example, the Portal allows residents to pay dues online, upload or download documents, submit work orders, etc.) There are Help documents on this site that show you how to do things inside of portals.

How Is My Website Built?

There are many website-building platforms on the market today. WordPress is one of the most well-known of these platforms. We built your website with WordPress.

When we say "built," we mean designed and assembled. WordPress is an online software with a set of tools that enables people to create their own website from start to finish.

Since we've already assembled the bones of your website (and hung a bit of flesh on it, too), all you have to do is dress it. Meaning, put the clothes on it so that it looks like you want it to, and add the particular parts that you need.

Dressing a Website

The main things you need to know are how to add and edit pages, photos, and blog posts. What are those? We give you the deets in separate articles, so check them out.
